It will come as a shock to all members that Lazyboys Basketball will finish at the end of September. With a heavy heart, I have decided to close the Lazyboys Basketball project after nearly 7 years in operation.
After a great deal of careful thought, I have decided to wrap-up the club in order to spend more time with my family and achieve better balance in the merry-go-round of life. All good things come to an end, and I feel it’s now time for me to reclaim valuable time. I have discussed this in close consultation with the coaches and committee who have been instrumental to this club’s success over the years. Whilst we all feel that closing the club will be a shame, the coaches and committee have been very understanding of the situation and support this reasoning.
Watching this club grow from a hare-brained idea into a thriving social enterprise has been an unforgettable experience. With the help of its members, management committee, coaches, and wider support from the Bristol community, Lazyboys has been been a huge success story for grassroots sport. I would like to thank all of you for your continued support, good humour, and commitment to the ethos of Lazyboys over the years: this club is its members and its members are the club! We have a achieved a great deal and without each of you that wouldn’t have been possible.
Lazyboys will not be going out quietly – we invite you to make the final few weeks of the club as fun as possible and to be a celebration of what we have achieved.
It’s been truly excellent folks,
Director – Lazyboys Basketball
